One of the aides for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has tried to repair some damage made in the media the past couple of days. The aide said that Palin was joking when she said that she would be getting a divorce from her husband, Todd, in an email sent back in 2007.
“Governor Palin was clearly speaking tongue-in-cheek in the email,” said Doug McMarlin. McMarlin is one of the few people Palin has kept on her staff since she left the office of the governor of Alaska back in 2009.
The email from Palin surfaced to the media last Friday. It mentioned that Palin might have been considering divorce from her husband. The divorce talk was swiftly denied, even by a reporter from Slate, Dave Weigel. Palin’s aide, McMarlin, said that Palin was only joking in the email that made it out to the public and that she was nowhere near serious when it came to the divorce discussion.
“This email was during her fifth pregnancy and the Palin marriage remains one of the most solid in any environment. We thank the media for their, er, continuing attention to this particular issue,” McMarlin said to the media in hopes of clearing Palin’s name.
