The San Diego Business Journal reports that lawyers in “America’s Finest City” saved Christmas for a group of sick kids.
A group of hundreds of children with life-threatening conditions were to attend, and be honored at, the Poinsettia Bowl college football game at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. But when the corporate sponsor for the event pulled out at the last minute, the kids has no way to get to the game.
Roy Bell, a partner at Ross, Dixon & Bell, rode to the rescue, canceling the firm’s holiday party and using the funds, along with cash donated by other attorneys and staff, to save the day.
The youngsters got to play important roles in the game, including flipping the coin, serving as honorary captains and retrieving the tee after the opening kickoff.
In July, Ross Dixon merged with Troutman Sanders LLP .
