New York’s Chadbourne & Parke has poached John A. Squires from Goldman Sachs, where he was chief intellectual property counsel.
Squires will co-chair Chadbourne & Parke’s IP practice with partner Walter G. Hanchuk.
Squires founded Goldman Sachs’ patent practice nine years ago, and he has been credited with giving the practice a more global focus
Squires has also been involved in a number of public IP initiatives. He has chaired the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association’s IP subcommittee since 2004, and co-authored an examination quality program with the US Patent and Trademark Office. He worked with Congress to bring about improvements in patent law. And he has filed several amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Squires was general counsel and chief IP counsel for New Jersey-based enginnering conglomerate Honeywell.
