Seven Morgan & Finnegan lawyers will join as equity partners, and another six will join as income partners. Together, the group expects to bill $28 million in 2009.
Senior partner John Sweeney will earn $1.6 million, and become deputy managing partner for the New York office. Senior partner James Gould will become co-head of intellectual property, earning $1 million.
The departures likely spell the end for the Morgan & Finnegan, founded in 1896. The firm employs 27 associates and 11 of counsel.
Morgan & Finnegan has been shedding partners for years. It had 31 partners in 2007, but today lists only 17.
