Bryan Cave LLP is laying off 58 attorneys and 76 staff today.

It is the second national law firm to report layoffs Thursday. DLA Piper also is letting go 180 attorneys and staff.

The layoffs at St. Louis-based Bryan Cave will happen across its offices. It has 1,200 attorneys in 19 offices.

The firm will not increase salaries in 2009.

Bryan Cave completed a merger January 1st with Atlanta-based Powell Goldstein LLP.
