Connecticut’s Updike, Kelly & Spellacy has laid off three secretaries and two first-year lawyers in its Hartford office.
“We have been looking at the economic situation since August and September, when the financial markets collapsed,” the firm’s David Sturgess said. “This was not an easy decision.”
The firm does not foresee further lawyer layoffs. The current layoffs were not performance related.
Founded in 1967, Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, PC is a major Connecticut law firm, with offices in Hartford and New Haven.
