We reported on Tuesday a rumor that Blank Rome would hold layoffs this week.

Today, Blank Rome confirmed that it has laid off 27 associates and 52 staffers

The firm is also pushing back start dates for incoming first year associates until January 2010, and will cut its 2009 summer program from 10 weeks to six.

Blank Rome LLP is the 84th largest law firm in the US according to the AmLaw 100. It employs about 500 at its eight offices in the US and Kong Kong.
