Dallas, Texas-based business law firm Gardere Wynne Sewell has laid off an undisclosed number of attorneys and staff today.
The firm bizarrely cites “privacy” concerns as its reason for not releasing numbers.
Holding back information leads to rumors, and the firm felt the need to address one in its official announcement:
…we are aware that there are reports that the number of people affected [was] 20 attorneys and 40 staff. Those numbers are incorrect, and the number of people involved in both categories was substantially less.
Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP employs nearly 300 attorneys with offices in Dallas, Austin, Houston, Washington DC and Mexico City.
