DC Bar May Defer Dues for Unemployed Lawyers

While The District of Columbia Bar considers deferring due payments for unemployed lawyers, it has voted to raise annual dues from $195 to $224.

Inactive members will pay $126, up from $121; judicial members will pay $113, a $15 hike.

The Bar put off a decision about deferring payment of 2009 bar dues to March, 2010, for lawyers in “economic hardship.” The board will consult with bar members to see if the deferral is necessary.

Created in 1972, The District of Columbia Bar is the second largest unified bar association in the United States.
