Mayer Brown announced at the beginning of April that it was deferring most incoming associates to January, 2010, with a deferral stipend of $5,000 per month.
Now the firm has decided to allow associates to voluntarily extend their deferral to October 2010, with the $5,000 a month payment and health benefits. A public interest fellowship is not required, although a program will be offered.
Mayer Brown is one of the largest global law firms both by number of lawyers and revenue. The firm has over 1,800 lawyers in key business centers across the Americas, Asia and Europe.
