Rather than lay off under-productive attorneys, New Zealand law firm Russell McVeagh is encouraging its lawyers to increase their pro bono work until the global economy picks up.
Russell McVeagh has been providing lawyers for one day a week at community law centers in Mangere and Wellington for decades.
The firm also provides lawyers for Cure Kids, the Karori Sanctuary Trust, the New Zealand Film Festival Trust.
Russell McVeagh, formerly Russell McVeagh McKenzie Bartleet & Co, is one of New Zealand’s “big three” top law firms. The firm was formed in 1863, and operates from offices in Auckland and Wellington.
