The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday that the US legal services industry lost another 2,700 jobs in July, a 0.23% drop.
The industry employs 1.13 million lawyers and staff.
In July the US economy overall gained a few jobs — the nation’s unemployment rate fell from 9.5% in June to 9.4% in July.
Some of the biggest July job losses were at DLA Piper (20 lawyers and 100 staff) and at Fulbright & Jaworski (85 staff).
