Last week, Maryland Public Defender Nancy Forster, the state’s chief Public Defender since 2001, was suddenly terminated, with a reason given publicly, by a 2-1 vote of the Board of Trustees.
Hours before the termination was made public, Forster fired two public defender lawyers.
This week, acting Maryland Public Defender Elizabeth Julian restored the positions of the lawyers terminated by Forster.
Forster was a public defender for 25 years, and has accused the Board of requiring her to perform unlawful acts.
