Jillian Michaels, a celebrity trainer who appears on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” television program, is suing Tarzana, California based Wasserman, Comden & Casselman (WC&C) for defamation. This action comes after being initially sued by the same firm over a breach in consumer and advertising laws relating to Michael’s Calorie Control capsules.
The defamation claim originates from WC&C partner Melissa Harnett saying on tmz.com “Telling people you can take two magic pills and then eat chocolate cake all day is a deception.” The suit issued by WC&C refers to Michaels saying the pills are “like an automatic diet. What could be easier.”
A statement issued by senior WC&C partner Robert L. Esensten said “We believe Ms. Michaels’ retaliatory suit is a frivolous and baseless lawsuit attempting to intimidate us into backing off in our efforts to protect consumers from deceptive advertising.”
