Stratford has lived and worked in China for more than 25 years, according to a firm press release. During his time at the USTR, Stratford worked with government officials in the U.S. and China on developing and implementing U.S-China trade policy.
Stratford will be joining several other former trade officials in Covington & Burling’s Beijing office, which opened in mid-2008. Also in China are Stu Eizenstat, former deputy treasury secretary; former deputy U.S. Trade Representative John Veroneau; and Al Larson, former undersecretary of state for economic affairs.
In addition to Beijing, Covington & Burling also has offices in Brussels, London, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Washington D.C.
