The National Law Journal is reporting that software company George Sutton & Associates Inc. is suing DLA Piper for allegedly breaching fiduciary duty, unfairly charging more than $200,000 in legal fees and causing George Sutton & Associates to lose a $1 million business deal. In the complaint the company alleges that a DLA Piper associate illegally “rifled through” its files and disclosed confidential information to a third party, resulting in $1.2 million in damages.
The company filed the complaint March 9 in San Diego County, California Superior Court. George Sutton states in their complaint that their agreement to take conflicts with the firm to the American Arbitration Association is unfair to them because the law firm is affiliated with the organization.
