Former director of administration to Joe Biden, Moe Vela, has joined the office of Holland & Knight as a partner in the firm’s public policy group. Vela, who also served as a senior adviser to Vice President Al Gore, began at the firm on Monday, according to reports.
Vela will remain in Washington to work on government relations strategies at all levels of government, according to The BLT: The Blog of the Legal Times.
After serving as Gore’s chief financial officer and advisor on Latino affairs from 1996-2000, Vela entered the private sector as head of Diverse Directions, a D.C.-based Hispanic marketing firm. He went on to found The Comunidades Group, a real-estate firm based in Denver that offers rental assistance to Hispanics and other minorities.
Under Biden, Vela supervised budget operations and outreach efforts.
Holland has over 1,100 attorneys worldwide with offices in the United States, China, Israel, Mexico, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.
