In a statement issued to The ABA Journal, Darby & Darby, an intellectual property boutique in operation for over a hundred years, stated it will close its doors.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that after more than 100 years in continuous operation, Darby & Darby will begin the process of winding down the firm in anticipation of an orderly dissolution…While we continue to have exceptional clients, from individual inventors to Fortune Global 500 Companies, and remain profitable, many of the factors frequently cited in other firms’ demise have similarly impacted us.”
Media and PR manager Mike Rick has also stated that reports of a merger with K&L Gates are not true nor was there any confirmation or indication that K&L Gates was planning to hire Darby lawyers.
Darby & Darby has approximately 200 attorneys and offices in New York, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Palm Beach Gardens and Frankfurt.
