The head of McDermott Will & Emery’s U.S. communications practice, Shirley S. Fujimoto, is among four partners that have left the firm to join Fish & Richardson’s regulatory and government affairs group in Washington D.C. Joining Fujimoto at Fish & Richardson are Jeffrey L. Sheldon, David R. Rines and Kevin M. Cookler.
According to a Fish & Richardson press release, Fujimoto and her team are best known for their representation of electric utilities that operate sophisticated internal communications networks. Fujimoto and Sheldon will be principals at Fish & Richardson, while Rines and Cookler join as of counsel.
Fish & Richardson said the additions were made in order to increase its capacity to meet the growing demand in the broadband and wireless communications sectors.
“Fish has a unique, high-tech oriented telecommunications practice leveraged off of its strong intellectual property platform, so this impressive group is a natural fit for our firm,” said Terry G. Mahn, head of the Regulatory and Government Affairs Group at Fish & Richardson and managing principal of the Washington, D.C. office.
Fish & Richardson is a global law firm and has 400 attorneys.
