The award, which honors extraordinary contributions to the legal profession and demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of justice, is the AAJ’s most distinguished honor. Motley will be presented with the honor July 13 at the organization’s annual convention in Vancouver, Canada.
According to a press release from Motley Rice, Motley’s career includes pioneering litigation involving asbestos, the John Manville case, and on behalf of the Attorneys General against Big Tobacco. He has also pursued cases against alleged terrorist financiers of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Firm co-founder Joe Rice called Motley “a walking representation of the values that are fundamental to our country’s justice system and the rights of citizens worldwide.”
The AAJ, formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, was established in 1946 to promote justice and address the challenges inherent in trial advocacy.
