Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP, one of the nation’s largest minority-owned law firms, has added two partners to its intellectual property practice. They are Neil P. Calvin, formerly of Microsoft, and Albert S. Michalik.
Calvin is a registered patent attorney focusing on patent/intellectual property licensing. Â Calvin was Associate General Counsel and Director of Patent Licensing at Microsoft Corp. for nearly nine years. In addition to supporting patent/IP issues for Windows, he formed and led Microsoft’s Patent Licensing Team and focused on IP issues in the areas of standards, open source software, outbound patent licenses, cross licenses, OEM software licensing, and joint development deals.
Michalik is a registered patent attorney with experience in all aspects of intellectual property law and a special emphasis on the preparation and prosecution of software and hardware-related patent applications. Michalik’s prior legal experience includes founding and growing his own law firm, where he represented Microsoft, among other clients. Prior to that, Michalik worked as a patent attorney in the Chicago office of Leydig, Voit and Mayer, Ltd.
