Greenberg Traurig President Matthew B. Gorson was elected to serve on the Executive Committee of United Way of Miami-Dade at its recently held 2010 annual meeting and volunteer awards program. Gorson joins Greenberg Traurig Executive Chairman Cesar L. Alvarez and Global Operating Shareholder Hilarie Bass, who serve on the organization’s Advisory Council and Board of Directors.
Gorson is a longtime philanthropist in the Miami community. He led the movement to open a charter school in downtown Miami, where he serves as chairman. Gorson also serves on the boards of Tulane University and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
United Way of Miami-Dade works with the local community to create a brighter future for all residents of the county. Programs are focused on providing and promoting quality education, a stable job environment, financial independence and good health.
Alvarez served as Chair of the United Way of Miami-Dade Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005 and Campaign Chair from 2001 to 2002. Bass, Chair-Elect to the ABA Litigation Section, served as Chair of the Board of Directors from 1997 to 1999 and chairs its Success by Six program.
