There was a rather large shakeup across the pond Tuesday. Simpson Thacher & Barltett announced that Jason Glover, currently the head of Clifford Chance ’s U.K funds practice, is leaving the firm to establish a similar practice for New York-based Simpson at its London office.
Glover’s practice will focus on private fund formation, particularly private equity funds, the firm said in a press release. He is considered a global leader in this practice area having represented many of the most prominent European and developing market private equity firms in structuring complex global funds.
“Jason is one of Europe’s preeminent private funds lawyers,” said Peter Ruegger, chairman of Simpson Thacher’s executive committee. “His addition to our London office will complement our internationally recognized funds practice group and significantly enhance our ability to meet the needs of our clients in Europe and globally.”
U.K.-based The Lawyer noted Glover is the second-high profile partner to leave Clifford Chance for Simpson Thacher in the past 14 months.
Founded in 1884, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett has more than 800 lawyers with offices in Beijing, Honk Kong, London, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Sao Paulo, Tokyo and Washington D.C.
