The New York Law Journal reports Eugene R. Anderson, a founding partner of Anderson Kill & Olick, died from pneumonia Friday at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He was 82.
Considered a leader in insurance coverage law, Anderson was once described by BusinessWeek as “the dean of policyholder’s attorneys,” the New York Law Journal reports. According to an internal letter from Anderson Kill managing partner Robert M. Horkovich, Anderson had been hospitalized for some time because of a rare form of double pneumonia.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a mentor whose boundless energy, creativity, tenacity and zeal on behalf of policyholders has inspired those of us now working at Anderson Kill, as well as hundreds of attorneys in practice throughout the nation,” Horkovich said.
Anderson founded Anderson Kill & Olick in Manhattan in 1969. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law and then joined Chadbourne & Parke, where he eventually made partner. He also served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the 1960’s prior to founding Anderson Kill.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. today at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave. at 81st Street.
