Venable has added corporate attorneys James Nelson and William Russell as partners in its New York office from DLA Piper. Nelson and Russell previously served as co-heads of DLA Piper’s technology and sourcing practice in New York.
According to a firm press release, Nelson and Russell represent companies engaged in the development, commercialization and use of intellectual property assets, including licensing and distribution. They frequently counsel clients on business process and IT outsourcing transactions, working with both major corporate customers as well as technology and business process vendors.
“Jim Nelson and Bill Russell bring a substantial portfolio of big-ticket transactional experience, especially in deals involving key IP and technology assets,” said Charles Morton, co-chair of Venable’s business transactions group.
“They’ve established a particularly strong profile in the sourcing and licensing space, handling complex deals for many large companies in our own client base. We’re excited by the skill set and the relationships they add to our practice.”
