Well-known sports and entertainment agent Gregg Clifton is returning to Jackson Lewis after more than 25 years. Clifton, who began his career as an associate at Jackson Lewis, is back as a partner in the firm’s Phoenix office.
“I am thrilled to return home to Jackson Lewis,” Clifton said in a press release.
Most recently, Clifton was chief operating officer and vice president of Team Sports for Gaylord Sports Management in Scottsdale. Prior to that, he served as vice president and senior counsel for Athlete Representation at Octagon, a national sports marketing firm.
“Gregg’s reputation and expertise in sports and entertainment law brings new opportunities to Jackson Lewis in this expanding field,” said Jackson Lewis Managing Partner Amy Gittler. “He understands not only the intricacies of legal matters, but how they are important to the short- and long-term success of a company, its officers, directors and employees.”
At Jackson Lewis, Clifton will be a “key player” in the firm’s sports industry practice group. The group will provide counsel to professional sports franchises in all labor and employment law-related matters, including salary arbitrations, contract disputes, effective diversity strategies, emergency response obligations and plans and wage and hour compliance. The group will also negotiate executive employment agreements for coaches, managers, and administrators of professional sports franchises.
Jackson Lewis has more than 650 attorneys practicing in 46 cities nationwide. It was founded in 1958.
