International law firm Brown Rudnick announced today that George H. Lowe has joined the Washington DC office as a Principal in the Firm’s Government Law & Strategies Group.
With over 12 years of Congressional experience, Mr. Lowe is a highly skilled government relations professional in the areas of political and parliamentary strategy, coalition building, negotiation, mediation, and crisis management. Most recently, Mr. Lowe was the President of Lowe Strategies LLC where he represented numerous clients including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses and a foreign government.
From 2005 – 2009, Mr. Lowe served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Ted Stevens. In this role, Mr. Lowe advised the Senator and oversaw legislation including committee and floor strategy, appropriations, interaction with the Administration and other government agencies, outreach with the business community, office correspondence, constituent services, office budgets, and press strategy. During this time, Mr. Lowe maintained strong relationships with Members of Congress and Chiefs of Staff, and met routinely with a wide variety of stakeholders including businesses and constituents. He also managed the U.S-China Interparlimentary Group including several trips to China to meet with President Hu and high level members of the National People’s Congress.
Mr. Lowe began his legislative career with Senator Stevens, and served in numerous advisory roles for Senator Stevens including Legislative Director (2003-2004), Chief Counsel (2002-2003), Legislative Assistant (2000-2002), Legislative Correspondent (1994-1997) .
Among numerous contributions in these roles, Mr. Lowe led staff for the Senator during floor debates and parliamentary issues, negotiations on the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, and helped Senator Stevens and Senator McCain in reorganizing the United States Olympic Committee. During his time with Senator Stevens, Mr. Lowe handled issues before the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, the Appropriations Committee, the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, the Rules Committee as well as leadership staff for the President Pro Tempore Office. In addition, he was one of the lead staff for the President Pro Tem duties during both President Reagan’s lying in State and President Ford’s services in the Capitol Rotunda.
From 2004 – 2005, Mr. Lowe served as U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski’s Chief of Staff, where he also acted as lead staffer for the Deputy Republican Whip’s Office. In this capacity, Mr. Lowe conducted extensive work with Senate leadership on votes, legislation and policy. He oversaw committee work including the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Foreign Relations Committee, Indian Affairs Committee, and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
