WilmerHale, a premiere law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers, announced the arrival of former senior air force acquisition attorney, Gregory H. Petkoff, in their firm to serve as special counsel. Petkoff is now a member of the firm’s Defense, National Security and Government Contracts practice group following his work at the United States Air Force. Petkoff, with his extensive experience in government affairs, will focus his practice on advising clients on government contracting concerns that include IG investigations, major weapons systems acquisitions, government contract claims litigation, bid protests and other government related inquiries. WilmerHale also designated Petkoff to be a member of a committee that handles Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and Defense Security Service (DSS) reviews of cross border defense transactions as well as the antitrust review of defense mergers and acquisitions.
Robert Novick, chair of WilmerHale’s Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, expressed his excitement over Petkoff’s arrival. Novick pointed out that Petkoff has broad knowledge on government affairs and regulation processes which the firm needs as part of its plan for boosting its government contracts area. “Greg is a fantastic addition to our expanding Government Contracts practice, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome him to the firm. His tremendous experience with essentially every aspect of government procurement law, coupled with his handling of more than 400 bid protests, provides our firm with exceptional capability in the government contracts practice area. Our clients will benefit greatly from Greg’s counsel, including in any contested proceedings in the government procurement sector.”
Petkoff, who received his BA from Georgetown University and his JD from the University of San Diego, said that he is excited as well to be part of WilmerHale’s team. “The government procurement industry has witnessed major regulatory changes over the past two years, and I’m excited to put my extensive government experience to use in private practice. I am also delighted to join the talented team of top lawyers who practice in WilmerHale’s Defense, National Security and Government Contracts group.”
