Even during the worst of the financial crisis, Gibson Dunn managed to post increases in key financial numbers, with a 1.6% increase in per partner profits and a 4% growth in revenue in 2009. And while other firms were issuing layoffs and deferrals, Gibson Dunn increased its headcount by 6.5% that year. Although these were record breaking numbers for the firm, it was just a small taste of what was in store.
The numbers for 2010 shattered firm records and expectations. Gibson Dunn broke the $1 Billion mark in gross revenue for the first time as revenues increased by 7% to $1.062 Billion. Per partner profits jumped by an incredible 20.9% to $2.31 Million, the first time this number crossed the $2 Million mark.
2010 also saw the firm expand into Hong Kong for the first time, part of a larger plan for the Asian legal market.
