A federal appeals court has ruled in favor of Elpida Memory Inc., Acer, Inc., Smart Modular Technologies Inc., and other technology companies. Tessera Inc. had claimed that the companies had infringed upon its patent rights for chip packaging. The court affirmed a prior International Trade Commission ruling that Tessera did not have its patent rights infringed.
