Members of Congress cannot get immunity to become super citizens from the Speech or Debate Clause, clarified Supreme Court in relation to a case of corruption by an Ex-congressman. Richard Renzi, a former US representative is allegedly involved in a case of amassing huge profits from real estate deals by using his political office in the year 2005. He argued that his negotiations fall under the Speech or debate clause of Article I and need to be considered privileged legislative acts, which the Supreme Court denied.
