Lucky for me, when I asked my mom if she’d want to go out for lunch today, she said that she knew the perfect place for us to go! I didn’t question it and got right in the car! She took us to the Blue Bird Bistro, near downtown Kansas City.

I thought the ceiling in the room we were in was so cool! One thing I loved about the design of the restaurant was all the natural lighting.
Their menu was amazing; I had such a hard time choosing! My mom said she usually got something from their breakfast menu (which they serve until 2pm!) so this time she opted to be adventurous and got their tomato sandwich. It was made with local bread and tomatoes and she said both the sandwich itself and the bread was delicious!
I kept debating between getting the Green Curry with chicken and the Black Bean Shepherd’s Pie, but with the waitress’s help I chose the Green Chicken Curry, and I’m sure glad I did!
Although it was different from what I expected (I was thinking a curry more like what I’d get at an Indian restaurant, it was very delicious. It was made with fresh, local carrots, squash, potatoes and various other vegetables, and served over rice. The perfect warm meal for a rainy day!
Once we got home, the rain cleared up a bit so I decided to take that bike ride! I had only planned on doing a 4 mile loop, but I was enjoying exploring new streets so much that I ended up doing a 9 mile loop that took me through Missouri and then over into Kansas a bit! If you didn’t know, Kansas City sits right on the boarder of Kansas and Missouri, where the Kansas River and the Missouri River meet. I live in Missouri, about 100 ft from the state line, I can see Kansas from my window! I love telling people that…
