Then I steamed the veggies in the microwave for about 3 minutes. I forgot to add a little water to the bowl, so they came out a bit drier than I would have liked. I topped it off with some marinara sauce and ta da! Italian veggie scramble!
If you remember from Monday, I had planned out my workout schedule this week without a rest day, but after writing about how important rest days are, I decided to make yesterday my rest day! Today, however, it’s back to the grind!
For my workout today, I started with 10 min on the elliptical to warm up, and then did a couple ab machines (2 sets of 30 on a crunch machine and then 3 sets of 15 on each side on an oblique machine). After that, it was time to run! This time, I organized my intervals by miles, rather than minutes:
0-1 mile @ 6.5
1 – 1.5 @ 8.0
1.5 – 2.0 @ 7.0
2.0 – 2.5 @ 8.0
2.5 – 3.0 @ 7.0
3.0 – 3.5 @ 8.0
3.5 – 3.8 @ 7.0
3.8 – 4.0 @ 9.0
and then I jogged/walked about .4 miles to cool down. I ended up hitting 4 miles in 32:38! Why is it that I can run so much faster on the treadmill?!? Does anyone else find they can push themselves harder on a treadmill, rather than running outside?
When I got home, I was hungry! (I had a half a banana with some PB before my workout). I made up a quick smoothie, and had some TJ Bran Flakes and berries to put on top! The smoothie contained spinach, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 tsp flax and 1 packet Truvia.
Today I might have lunch with my cousin and then I’m going to hang out with my brother and sister-in-law tonight before they head out of town for the long weekend! Oh yea, and probably some school work in there too…
How do you feel about running on the treadmill versus outside? Which way pushes you harder?
