Yesterday I got to go to one of my favorite places – the Farmers Market! I jogged down to the market bright and early in the morning and it was much less crowded before 8am! As usual, everything was gorgeous and I was so excited to get shopping!
I’ve already planned my meals for the week, so I knew exactly what I needed. The Farmers Market was even more fun with an actual list – rather than just rambling aimlessly like I normally do!
And today was the first day I saw apples! I’m so excited because apples are one of my favorite foods! I can’t wait to try out all the different kinds the farmers around here grow! And when I say around here, I mean Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan! These farmers drive hours in the mornings to come all the way to Chicago to sell their produce, and I’m grateful!
After the farmers market, I went to Yoga Sculpt at Core Power Yoga, which I love because it’s upbeat and incorporates weights into yoga moves – exactly the kind of yoga I need when I’m feeling a serious workout! When I got back I knew exactly what I was going to make: Chocolate Covered Katie’s Chocolate Cake Batter Shake!
Not quite as healthy as my normal shake, but it really hit the spot and I’d been dying to try it! I didn’t use coconut butter since I don’t have any, and I also added in a scoop of vanilla protein powder. It turned out absolutely delicious! I added some raspberries on top, too!
Later that day it started raining, and it made me feel like eating something nice and warm! So I decided to try yet another CCK recipe: Pumpkin Boatmeal! (Baked Oatmeal).
Unfortunately, I realized I didn’t have the right sized container to bake it in… I either had really small ramekins, or way too big baking dishes! I ended up going with the smallest baking dish I had, but I had to spread out the mix a bit more than I would have liked. It was still delicious, but I bet it will be even better when it’s thicker! New baking dish is on the to do list!
Perfect for a chilly day!
Because of the rain yesterday and last night, this morning was also a little cooler, which was perfect for my long run! I was up and out the door, excited for my 6 mile run! Unfortunately, my iPhone refused to cooperate… It just would not track me, even if it said the GPS was working. So I had to take a route that I was pretty sure about the mileage and then calculate it when I got home.
Turns out, I ran 6.1 miles in 54:15!! That’s a 8:53 min/mile pace! I’m pretty excited about it. However, the last mile was definitely slowed down because the back of my right heel was killing me and I kept having to stop and try and massage it! I’m going to have to look up what exactly that was that was hurting so badly, because it really had me worried! It just feels sore now and I iced it, but I’m concerned!
When I got back I made myself a peach banana smoothie, this time with half a fresh peach from the farmers market, and a whole frozen banana with a handful of spinach, a packet of truvia, 1/2 cup almond milk, some flax and a scoop of vanilla protein powder.
Has anyone else tried out new recipes now that fall is coming? I seem to be trying a lot this weekend! I already have more in mind!
Don’t forget to send me an questions you may have!
