Statistics from the HBR consulting press release have shown that from 2009 to 2010, law firm companies are spending more money on in-house legal work and less money on legal work from outside of the company. In fact, within just one year, an increasing amount of six percent was spent on the in-house legal work while only three percent was spent on legal work that takes place outside of the company.

LLP LLP has just hired three new lawyers to become members of their law firm. These lawyers are former prosecutors for the Southern District of New York. After Clifford Chance LLP announced its hiring of three new lawyers for its law firm, it also announced that its partner, James Butters, would be venturing out to a law firm office that is located in Paris. The move to Paris is supposed to help the company and its practices to expand and grow drastically.
There has been a recent merge of two reputable law firms. Both Faegre & Benson and Baker & Daniels have mutually agreed to merge with one another. Many mergers have been taking place due to the recession. With the economy in a seemingly downward spiral, some law firms are benefiting from merging with other law firms in attempts to keep their firm successful. These two companies may be merging for strategic purposes or for survival purposes. As of 2012, the company will now be referred to as Faegre Baker Daniels, which is a combination of both separate company names.
Fatima Sulaiman, an investment management partner, has recently joined forces with K&L Gates once again. While being away for the company for two years, her return to the company is warmly welcomed because Sulaiman practiced with this company from 1995 until 2009. Now that she has rejoined the firm, she will be working on investment management as well as hedge funds.
SNR Denton has just hired four new lawyers for its prestigious law firm. These four new lawyers will be working with the Indian law and will be located at the office in Washington, D.C. In the meantime, Winston & Strawn have hired Michael Madden to work in one of their offices that is located in London, England. They have also named Thomas Cottingham as the managing partner for their law firm office in the North Carolina area.

James Pease has just been hired to work for Constangy, Brooks & Smith. While working for this law firm, he will be working on most of the labor-related cases in their office in Madison, Wisconsin. The White & Case law firm just hired Stefan Koch to work at their merger practice. Stefan Koch is a recognized lawyer who once worked for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom law firm. Aside from hiring Koch for their practice in Frankfurt, Germany, White & Case have also hired three new partners for the firm that they have located in the city of Moscow.
