Some for Them, Some for Me (or not).

Let me tell you a story.

It’s a story about a girl who was trying very hard. What was she trying to do? Eat gluten and soy free. Simple, right?

She thought so.

But she was wrong.

This girl, for some unknown reason, thought that Vital Wheat Gluten was not actually the kind of gluten that would trigger someone with a gluten intolerance. She was pretty positive she had read it on another blog. She was excited because it had so much protein. She thought it would be perfect to replace the protein powder in a recipe since her protein powder had soy.

She thought she was cheating the system.

She was wrong.

How did she discover she was wrong?

She ate the protein bar. She didn’t feel well. She Googled Vital Wheat Gluten.

Winning.

So she went home and threw out the ones she made and decided started again… But those will be coming as soon as the new protein powder arrives at her doorstep…

Another epic fail? The dinners I made this week. I had made a barley, veggie, and chicken hot dog mix to bring for dinner Monday and Wednesday. After posting it on my What I Ate Wednesday, a kind commenter told me that barley had gluten… Winning.

I had to dump out my dinner and go find something in the cafeteria. Unfortunately, the cafeteria was not very kind to the gluten free diet. I ended up getting a bunch of fruit and veggies, and a yogurt. Gotta learn to adapt!

However, I did make some fantastic Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins for my brother! I have a ton of regular wheat flour left over and rather than tossing it, I like to use it to make things for other people!

I knew my sister-in-law, Lauren loves pumpkin, and they liked the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bread I had made them, so these muffins sounded like the perfect idea.

I found the recipe on Carrots N Cake, so be sure to check it out on Tina’s blog!

The only changes I made were replacing the walnuts and raisins with chocolate chips. I’m sure Lauren appreciated that one…

Mixing it all together:

Before going in the oven….

And, TADA!!!! Delicious (well they said they were good) pumpkin chocolate chip muffins! They were so easy and quick to make!

Finally, I have some great news! Remember how I showed you the video of Molly rolling over, in preparation for her puppy school final exam?

Well, last night she had her exam.

And she was the valedictorian! Apparently, the only point she missed on the test was when she jumped up when the instructor ran at her. Personally, I would have jumped up too. Frightening.

Haha, her face in this picture looks so confused!

She is so smart! We are so proud of Molly, and good job to my brother and Lauren for working hard to train her so well! Who would have thought that little ball of fluff would be the valedictorian… *sigh*.

She’s grown so much, I can’t believe how big she is now! And she has further to go! She’ll be famous one day…

Have you had any “epic fails” recently? How do you keep yourself from getting down?

Do you have pets with special talents? Haha, that’s like asking a parent if their kid is the best. Every parent thinks their kid is better…
