HIIT Time!

Yesterday morning I was already craving a run, even after my 10 mile race on Saturday! I decided to take my run to the treadmill and do some HIIT training, since I hadn’t been doing that much with my longer runs.

I ended up completing a 4.5 mile run in about 40 minutes!

40 Minute HIIT Treadmill Workout

minutes 0-5 – warm up @ 6.7 (started slower and built up during the first minute or two)

minute 5-6 @ 7.5

minute 6-7 @ 6.7

minute 7-8 @ 8.0

minute 8-9 @ 7.0

minute 9-10 @ 8.0

minute 10-11 @ 7.0

Minute 11-12 @ 8.0

minute 12-13 @ 7.0

minute 13-14 @ 8.5

minute 14-15 @ 7.0

minute 15-16 @ 8.5

minute 16-17 @ 7.0

minute 17-18 @ 8.5

minute 18-19 @ 7.0

minute 19-20 @ 9.0

minute 20-21 @ 7.0

minute 21-22 @ 9.0

minute 22-23 @ 7.0

minute 23-24 @ 9.5

next 30 seconds at 6.0

At this point I was at about 3 miles, so I ran the last mile at 7.0, and then walked at an incline of 5 at 4.0 until I hit 40 minutes!

I was surprised that the 9.5 sprint wasn’t quite as difficult as I anticipated (Can you see I kept putting it off?) But I definitely needed to slow down for those 30 seconds afterwards! Whew!

I rounded out my workout by mixing a bunch of ab moves into my stretching. My legs are so tight after my run on Saturday! I think it’s partly because I’m sitting all the time for school work… and watching Netflix.

So I was browsing through Huffington Post yesterday, as usual, and came across this article about 10 Crazy Restaurant Concepts. Of course, I was intrigued.

One of them is a restaurant called Dalu Robot in Jinan China, where the hosts and servers are all robots that resemble C-3PO. I think that would completely creep me out.

Another one, called Dans Le Noir?,  is something I’ve seen in a movie before… can’t remember which movie. Anyway, it’s translated as “dining in the dark?” and is a Paris-based chain that has locations in London, Barcelona, Kiev and, soon, New York City. I think, although totally awkward, this would actually be a lot of fun. Especially if you go with a good friend, I can see it being hilarious and an interesting eating experience.

One that really upsets me is the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas. It boasts its horribly unhealthy food that goes far, far beyond any normal fast food restaurant. I’ve actually heard of it before, and I think it’s an awful message to be sending out.

There are a bunch of other cool restaurants listed, you should check it out and see if any are near you! Now I can’t stop thinking about this dining in the dark idea…

If any of you are living in the Chicago area, you should consider donating to or participating in Every Step Counts, a 5K run to benefit two local girls. One girl was struck with an unknown virus that attacked her muscular-skeletal system and the other suffered from a spinal stroke, leaving her paralyzed from the neck down.

Chelsey talked about it a few days ago and I knew I immediately had to sign up! I love running, and why not use that love for a good cause. I’ve been blessed with a healthy body so I should use that to help those who are not so blessed.

The race is this Saturday morning in Tinley Park, so check it out, and if you can’t run you can always donate. Be sure to read the girls’ stories on their website. I’ll be there!

Have you ever participated in a race for a certain cause?

Which of those weird restaurants would you want to go to?
