International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced leading natural gas regulatory partner Karol Lyn Newman has joined the firm as a partner in its Energy Advisory Practice Group, based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
She joins McDermott from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, where she was also a partner.
Newman is a highly ranked attorney who has specialized experience offering regulatory advice to the natural gas sector. Blake H. Winburne, partner and global head of McDermott’s Energy Advisory Practice Group was quoted as saying in a press release at the firm’s website: “We are very pleased that a lawyer of Karol Lyn’s caliber is joining the practice. Her addition, together with other recent lateral partners brought into our Energy Advisory Practice Group, evidence the strong commitment of McDermott to remain one of the small group of go-to law firms advising the global energy sector. We will continue to invest in and grow this important practice area.”
Newman has advised clients on regulatory issues affecting coal gasification, liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas storage, and natural gas transportation projects. She has also assisted clients on energy-related matters before the Department of the Interior, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Congress.
Winburne was also quoted as saying: “McDermott’s energy practice has seen tremendous activity in the natural gas sector in recent years, with increased U.S. production giving rise to M&A, financing and project development work. Karol Lyn’s extensive experience in the sector will help us to continue to offer our energy clients a comprehensive range of transactional and regulatory advice.”
Newman is a seasoned, highly respected attorney with a history of delivering outstanding results to clients.
