Happy December! Can you believe it?? I sure can’t. I have my very last class of the semester today! Craziness.

In an effort to survive finals in the cheeriest mood possible, I’ve taken to decorating my apartment with holiday cheer (seriously considering finding a string of lights to hang up…) and listening to a Pandora Christmas Music station non-stop.

I went to World Market the other day to check out what they had. They didn’t have much in the way of decorations (other than the thousands of ornaments) but I did find this awesome placemat!

I’m totally in love. Oh, and the oats? Pumpkin oatmeal. In the mix today was 1/3 cup oatmeal, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1/3 cup water, 1 T chia seeds, cinnamon, 1/2 cup pumpkin and PB to top! Perfectly delicious for a chilly morning!

I also broke out an old Christmas mug I got years back and made a delicious chai tea latte!

If you have not gotten this foamer from IKEA, it’s a MUST!!! I’m obsessed. Also, a new tip I discovered. Put a little bit of sweetener in the warmed milk before you froth it, it comes out almost like whipped cream (almost is a stretch…). But it really added something to the drink!

I also got so jealous of other bloggers using their leftover cranberry sauce in creative ways and wanted to make my own… so be on the look out for that one popping up.

A couple weeks ago, Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers got some compression sleeves from Zensah and I really wanted to try them out! I knew I needed them when I’d lay in bed at night after a long run that day wishing I had something to wrap around my calves because they felt like they were swelling…

I ordered a pair and they came yesterday!

I tried them on for the fit, but I’m actually thinking about sending them back for a smaller size. For any of you who have compression sleeves, I’d love your advice! I got the S/M and I pulled them on very easily and they don’t really feel like they’re doing anything. I kind of just felt like I was wearing tall socks.

Thoughts?

Yesterday all of my classes were cancelled (it’s the last week, and teachers apparently just stop teaching when they feel like they’re done! I’m not complaining…), so I headed over to a coffee shop near me to get some studying done.

Yes, I’m being a total creeper by taking this picture.

It’s called Noble Tree Café and is in a 3 story brown stone building. I really like it because when it’s not packed with people it was fun to walk up the stairs and find a cozy place to sit. I’d gone there last year and there were so many people that I got really frustrated with it, but I’m glad I gave it another go!

Unfortunately, they didn’t have almond milk so I ended up just getting some tea. I ordered the Blueberry Rooibos, which smelled absolutely delicious!

It tasted alright, but it probably would have been good with a little almond milk… I need to find some way to carry around almond milk with me. Suggestions? I did like that you steep your tea and use their mugs when you stay in the store. The café has a great neighborhood feeling to it, so hopefully I’ll be able to get back there before it gets too crowded with students from surrounding colleges! *cough, cough* DePaul.

I actually ended up leaving earlier than I planned because my stomach was growling! I’d been dying to make an open faced-sandwich with my new turkey meet from Trader Joes, so that’s just what I did! I put Dijon mustard on a slice of Udi’s whole grain bread, added the turkey, then some spinach, and then a little gluten-free mozzarella cheese. I put it in the oven on broil for about 5-7 minutes. It definitely hit the spot!

Served with Greek yogurt mixed with peanut flour and grapes! Definitely went back for more grapes… and maybe finished the container off. It happens.

Do you have a certain place you like(d) to study?

Let me know if you have any advice on the compression sleeves or almond milk dilemmas!
