It what is one of the weirdest crimes of the year, a woman in Oklahoma has been arrested on charges of attempting to manufacture methamphetamine in a Tulsa, Oklahoma Walmart. In all honesty though, when the store offers a product called “Chemistry For Dummies,” is it that shocking that there are some dummy chemists out there?
The accused, Alisha Halfmoon, 45, picked up ingredients she needed from the Walmart shelves and mixed the chemicals inside of the Walmart store according to KJRH and the Huffington Post.
“While speaking with some of the firefighters on the scene she made statements that that’s what she was doing; that she was attempting to obtain these chemicals and was in the process of trying to manufacture methamphetamine,” police officer David Shelby told the station. “However, she said that she was not very good at it.”
Halfmoon had spent more than six hours at one time in the Walmart store, which prompted the store’s loss prevention officers to alert the local police about her suspicious behavior in the rear of the store. According to the report, once the officer approached Halfmoon, she had just finished mixing a bottle of sulfuric acid with starter fluid in the rear of the Walmart.
Even though Walmart is known for its insanely low prices, Officer Shelby claimed that the woman could not afford to purchase the drug ingredients needed to make the methamphetamine. According to the Huffington Post, Halfmoon was able to roundup some meth ingredients such as chemical drain cleaner and lithium to mix with the items in the chemistry set.
The Walmart store’s security cameras were able to catch the woman mixing chemicals she picked from the shelves and what was in the chemistry set. One of the local responding officers had to be treated for chemical burns after he felt a burning sensation through one of his leather gloves. This happened while the officer was trying to remove the mixed brew from the scene of the crime. Interestingly enough, this is only the first arrest for drug charges on Halfmoon’s record.
The suspect has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and obtaining a drug using a forged prescription back on November 17. The arrest information comes from the Tulsa County Jail website. Halfmoon was issued a deferred sentence by the jail and then released on bond. Weird crimes are a common occurrence in the United States these days, especially since the economy has gone into the tank. People are looking for more affordable ways to make drugs and stealing ingredients from the local Walmart seems to be the easiest way to go about things these days.
