Molly had a very exciting Christmas this year. Her first Christmas, in fact!
For those of you new to the blog, Molly is my brother and sister-in-law’s 6 month old golden retriever puppy. She (and they) live in Chicago, so I get to see her often. She had not, however, met the rest of my family! They drove to Kansas City for Christmas, and brought Molly to meet the whole family!
The most exciting part (other than tons of people paying attention to her) was the big back yard! She’s an apartment puppy, so it was a new and exciting experience to have the freedom of running around the back yard! And she used it to her greatest advantage; plenty of hole digging and bunny chasing (don’t worry, she got no where near them…).
Another feat to tackle? Our slippery back stairwell!
When she first tried to go down the stairs, it took about 5 minutes of putting her front paws down, getting scared, and then backing up and staring at us at the bottom. Don’t worry, she finally got it though… nice and slowly.
On Saturday we had a “Chiefs Party” to watch the Chiefs game. We all had to wear some kind of Chiefs gear to get into the party (my mother’s rule), so Molly needed her first Chiefs outfit for the game! My mom got her a present that she let her open a day early.
Molly tried to rip it off at first, and seemed quite confused, but she actually got used to it and was completely adorable! Don’t worry, we didn’t make her wear it for too long!
She also had a wonderful time the next morning helping to open all her presents! She got several toys, treats, and a very large rope to chew on! She’s a big fan of eating paper… so the tissue paper was quite tempting. She behaved though! I’m sure she was trying to be good for Santa.
She kept taking her toys, running away, and then hiding behind the couch. I’m pretty sure she was afraid someone was going to take these new toys from her!
It was a great Christmas for Molly, and all of my family! Molly, my brother and sister-in-law just headed out this morning and everyone was sad to see them go!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families and friends!
Do you get lots of Christmas gifts for pets?
Did you have family travel in for Christmas, or did you travel at all?
