Basketball great Michael Jordan is now engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Yvette Prieto, a Cuban-American model. The two have been dating for three years. Estee Portnoy, the publicist for Jordan, confirmed the news, which was originally reported by WCNC in Charlotte on Thursday of this week.
Jordan is the owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, who got engaged over the Christmas weekend. There has yet to be a wedding date set for the couple.
This will be the second marriage for Jordan, who married Juanita Vanoy back in September of 1989. The couple divorced in 2006. The couple has two sons, Jeffrey Michael and Marcus James, and one daughter, Jasmine.
“You read about women wanting his attention. But grown men and children do, too,” Les Coney told the AP at the time, according to the NY Daily News. “He’s a magnet. He hasn’t played basketball in five years, but still, people stop and take pictures and ask for autographs.”
“Marriage is hard for any couple, and if you add celebrity to that, it’s even harder.”
