Good Morning everyone! Yesterday was a loooooong day. I flew from Charleston, to Atlanta, to Kansas City. My mom picked me up from the airport and we drove straight on to Colorado Springs, which is about a 9 hour drive! Needless to say, I was exhausted!

Because I had such a busy day yesterday, I didn’t get to tell you all about my visit to Charleston! I was only there for a day, and wish I could have stayed longer, but I got to see a lot of old friends and places!

The night before Amy Lee and I got into Charleston with just enough time to make it to Jazzercise. After class, we went to Verde to grab a quick dinner. I am SO JEALOUS that everyone in Charleston has Verde to go to! And it was actually just opened by a Jazzercise instructor and her husband. I used to go to her class all the time and it was great to see her!

Verde has an option to make your own salad or wrap (or they have signature ones they can make for you). I did a make my own salad with turkey, beets, sprouts, artichoke, and oil and vinegar dressing.

After dinner, I met my old roommate of two years, Madison, at 32 Degrees for some frozen yogurt. It was also great to see her and catch up! So many good stories from our house and times in Kappa Delta.

My morning started out with a very chilly run. Of course the one day I’m in Charleston is one of the coldest days of the year. I waited around to go on my run, but by 9am it was still 34 degrees, so I headed out into the cold!

Charleston sits on a peninsula that has the Ashley River on one side, the Cooper River on the other side, and then it points out towards the Atlantic Ocean.

I ran down around the battery, which is at the tip of the peninsula and has a great view of the water and the harbor.

Then I looped around some of the old parts of the city, including some of my favorite streets to take walks on, and past the law office I used to work at. Then I headed over to waterfront park, which has a pier that juts out into the Cooper River where there is a great view of the Cooper River Bridge.

After that, I headed back up East Bay and down Market, both roads lined with tons of shops and restaurants, and then I headed across the College of Charleston Campus, which was great to see. It was such a gorgeous place to go to school!

I finally ended my run by going past my old house, and then back to where I was staying with Amy Lee.

After my run I headed out to King Street to check out a few of my favorite shops and then meet my friend, Mary Frances, for lunch at King Street Grille. She works at a law office downtown, doing some real estate and hopefully some marketing soon! It was great to get to catch up with her, especially since she’s getting married in 2 months! I can’t wait for the wedding!

After lunch, another friend of mine, Meredith, came and picked me up with her two dogs, Benson and Tucker, and we headed to the dog park to let them run around a bit.

We didn’t last too long though, it was really cold!!! She had to get her oil changed, so I said I’d come along! We got to wait in the beautiful Jiffy Lube lobby, where they had some fantastic coffee. We were so cold that we drank the coffee, but really wished we hadn’t… It left both of us nauseous. Warning: do not drink Jiffy Lube Coffee unless you have a stomach of steel.

After coffee, we headed to the Red Drum for some wine! They had half price bottles, so we split a bottle and sat and chatted for a while. It was really great to catch up with Meredith, she’s a vet technician now and loving her job! I love visiting friends in Charleston because I felt like I had never left, like it hadn’t been a whole year since we last saw each other!

After that, Mary Frances asked if we’d go to the grocery store with her, so I could help her pick out some food to make protein shakes and oatmeal! It was a lot of fun to just hang out with them like old times. I really miss those two!
