Table Rock

Happy Friday everyone! I’m sure you all are excited that it’s Friday, whereas I can barely remember what day of the week it is! I’ve been all over the place, from Kansas City to North Carolina, then to South Carolina, and now I’m in Colorado Springs!

With all this craziness, I realized that I completely forgot to tell you all about the amazing hike I went on with Amy Lee and her mom while I was still in North Carolina!

On our last day in NC, we decided to go on a hike. Since Amy Lee lives so close to the mountains, there were plenty of options. She decided that table rock would be a great hike, since you can see the rock formation at the top of a peak from just about anywhere in her town!

To get to the hike, however, we had to drive quite a bit of the way up the mountain, and spent quite a long time on a winding dirt road! Kudos to Amy Lee’s mom for driving up that road, and in a down pour! (don’t worry, it stopped raining when we got there! very lucky!)

The hike was fun, but a bit rough in places for me! I’m not used to hiking up rock trails with tons of leaves, but Amy Lee was flying! It was actually the down hill that got me the most, especially since it was so slippery after raining!

Luckily, we made it to the top safely! However, the top itself was not so safe! It was horribly windy and I was almost afraid I’d be blown right off at some points!

We stopped at several points along the trail, and some of the views were just spectacular! You could see for miles and miles!

I always read people’s blogs from the East coast who go hiking, and I’m so jealous! Now I finally got to have a hiking adventure of my own! Too bad Illinois won’t be popping up mountains anytime soon! Guess that means I’ll be needed to find my way to the mountains after law school!

We made it back down safely, no falling! I had such a great time on this hike, it was the perfect way to end our trip!

P.S. Please not that I look so puffy because I was wearing a long sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt, and then my coat on top… It was quite chilly.

Do you like to hike? Do you live near somewhere where you can hike?

What is the ideal type of place you’d like to live? City, country, flat, beach, mountains, lake?
