The newest edition of Newsweek has stirred up another controversy as its cover features President Barack Obama.
The cover features a story from Andrew Sullivan titled: “Why Are Obama’s Critics So Dumb?”
In the article, Sullivan writes that “Obama has delivered in a way that the unhinged right and purist left have yet to understand or absorb.”
“If in recent years it seems as if Newsweek has been descending into self-parody, it’s still hard to imagine that this is real,” one blogger wrote.
The same blogger mocked the photo chosen for the cover saying that, “He looks terrible, and surprisingly like Jimmy Carter, even down to the downturned liverish lips and incipient jowls.”
Sullivan appeared on ‘Hardball’ on MSNBC, defending his story. He said that he was telling the truth about the President. Sullivan described the President as a “sensible, pragmatic centrist.” We have to agree with what Sullivan said about the picture chosen for the cover of the magazine. Obama does look very worn down in this photo, almost like he has been president for eight years instead of coming towards the end of his first term. But, a term that has included the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and the recent recession will help to age a person pretty quickly.
