Tim’s” no show” was because of his strong political and ideological differences with the Obama administration. Tim explained his position on his Facebook page – the only place where he said he would be clarifying his position. Here is what his statement says:
“I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.
This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.
Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.

Thomas was in goal for all of the Bruins’ 25 playoff games, winning 16. He allowed an average of 1.98 goals per game, making a major difference to the Bruins’ fortunes and getting them to win the Stanley Cup.
While the National Hockey League distanced itself from Tim’s position, it agreed that Tim certainly had a right to his views and that NHL respected his views.
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said he was aware in advance of Tim’s decision. Though he had tried to convince Tim to attend the event, Chiarelli said he honored Tim’s views and would not make it mandatory for him to join the celebrations.
Though Tim was missed, his absence at the event did not really make difference to the celebratory mood. Everyone had loads of fun. The President congratulated the players and even made fun of many of them.
Tim hasn’t really kept his political leanings under wraps. He is a huge fan of Glenn Beck, former host of Fox News channel.
