Skadden has every reason to rejoice, having been rated as one to the strongest legal brands in the United States. The results of the nation-wide ranking of law firms in terms of brand value were released by Am Law based on a study conducted by leading research agency, Acritas headquartered in Newcastle, England.
Am Law reported that in the run for the strongest legal brands, Skadden was followed by Jones Day. Kirkland & Ellis, Sidley Austin, and Wachtell.
The study was based on telephonic interviews with more than 900 clients, all of which are big companies with a majority of them reporting revenues over $1billion. A number of factors were considered when computing the results such as immediate recall value, favorability, suitability for high value work, expertise in important practice areas etc.
Skadden scored the highest on recall value followed by Jones Day. However on the favorability and fame factor, Jones Day led the race followed by Skadden.
According to Lisa Hart Shepherd, Chief Executive at Acritas, “At the most basic level, strong brands have the power to help firms win business, build client loyalty and generate client referrals.”
Acritas’ study proves as false all talk of building national and international brands. The study showed up regional favorites such as three Texas-based firms scoring the highest in the south. For practice areas too, there were hot favorites such as Skadden, Kirkland, Jones Day, Gibson, and Sidley for high-end litigation and Skadden, Wachtell, Jones Day, Sullivan, and Latham for M&A.
