The video shows a fully armored Syrian tank that has been hit by a laser-guided, steel-penetrating, hand held rocket that is filled with phosphorous and operated by the Israelis. It is a small rocket that is easily portable and is a tightly controlled weapon. When the rockets are checked out and checked in, each one is accounted for. To verify the use of the rocket, no fewer than two soldiers must be present. One of those soldiers must be a senior officer with at least 10 years of military service. The name and the type of program are classified from the public.
The tank in the video was on its way to a settlement in Israel. There were four other tanks one mile behind this one in the video. Those tanks decided to turn around before arriving in the area after those tanks learned the fate of the first tank.
If you turn the volume up on the video you can hear the ammunition exploding after the initial strike of the rocket. Not one member of the Syrian tank crew survived the rocket attack and it never reached the news.
This is somewhat of an everyday occurrence for the Israel Armed Forces. They also do not allow news reporters to get embedded with their armed forces much like the United States allows. The tactical use of this weapon has been described as not for ‘news’ entertainment but for the survival of the Israel Armed Forces.
