Not only was Genghis Khan named after the Asian war lord of yore who died in 1227, but he was named after Genghis Khan “the first” who met his end in a 2009 kennel club explosion that also claimed the lives of fourteen other dogs. The three-month-old Chow Chow was replaced in February 2010, when Karen gave Stewart the second Chow Chow, named in memory of the first also as Genghis, or “GK.”
Martha gloated over his triumph in a tweet: “Jan Kolnik showed Genghis. She knew he was the best and he proved it by winning. As his sire, Ch. Liontamer’s Dial 1-800 Hotstuff had won the breed last year, so did this young upstart.
Having defeated four other Chow Chows to become best of his breed, Genghis moved on to the Best in Group on Monday night.
“I’m not expecting anything,” said Tracy. “But the fact that he won the breed was amazing. I was crying!”
The show runs from 8 to 9 o’clock on USA network, and continues 9 to 11 o’clock on CNBC.
