The Ford Motor Company purchased a 1947 1/2 ton pickup from a seller in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. The sale price was $800,000.
According to Ford’s records, the truck is just one of 35 that were built in 1947 with the following factory installed items:
McCulloch water cooled supercharger, special carburetor, and special air cleaner for the McCulloch. Also installed by the factory were a sliding rear window, installed outside sun visor, vacuum powered dash fan, factory compass, ashtray, smokers kit, locking steering column, dome light, inside sun visors, bumper mounted fog lights, some form of factory cruise control with knob & wire in dash.
A man named Dave Hill was supposed to be restoring the truck along with his father Len. The two purchased the truck from a farmer who is the original owner of the truck. The farmer ordered the truck with the equipment it has in it today back in 1947.
Some of the added custom items on the truck include the luggage rack metal box in the bed of the truck, twin taillights with blue dots and the spare tire cover. These additions were done by Dave and Len. What makes this vehicle so extremely rare is the fact that it is possibly the only one that still remains intact today with its original numbers. There could be two other vehicles still out there but in pieces.
